Food Lion?...Really??

Ok so growing up and until last year I always shopped at Food Lion because they had the "best prices".  Well, maybe that was true 20 years ago and granted they are on just about every corner in my area, but it is not true today and I am always having trouble when it comes to customer service!!!

I went to get milk and decided to try out the Kraft Catalina there....big mistake!!!  Not only did it not work correctly, but I spent a good 45 minutes trying to get it resolved! My cashier did not know what to do and after I stood there trying to explain what was going on and then decided to try to exchange an item because the size was not listed on the coupon that did print ($5...I should have gotten $10), she reluctantly said okay and then sent me to exchange the item and sent me to a different cashier who had no clue either!  Then, she went to get the manager who had her ring everything up and cash out....It still printed $5....so they gave me both $5 coupons!  BUT, I had paid for the larger size Kraft Singles cheese and in all the confusion and cluelessness they did not refund me for it....so I am still out $4 because I came home with the smaller sizes!!! UGGGH!  Did I mention I hate Food Lion!??  No one, not even the manager knew what to do or what the Catalina was even about!!  They at least "acted" totally clueless about it!!!  Makes me so angry as I am sure you can tell from my choppy sentence structures!!!!!!  I hate Food Lion!  The bad news is that it is the closest grocery store to me, so for milk I went and usually go there.   Gosh!  I just hate Food Lion!  I mean I get it.... they didn't have to let me do what I did, but geez I have no trouble anywhere else!  The only thing I can think of that may have caused it to not work the second time was that I bought Velvetta Bacon flavor and Rotel flavor...again... because they were out of the original...when I went to ask a worker if there was anymore he just looked at me and turned the other way and continued to get paid for running his mouth!  Ok so maybe I am bashing Food Lion and their inability to see how "lowering their prices" is not helping much when it comes to other stores doubling...I do way better at Bi-Lo!  I really dislike the place, can ya tell!?  I just always fall into the trap and think well that is a pretty good deal on the Kraft deal and try it out only to be disappointed yet again!  Anyway...it would have been great if it had worked correctly, so if you do decide to try it at Food Lion...be sure to get the correct size and original flavors and check and double check...cause they won't know why, if it doesn't work!!!

Rite Aid 8/26/12....trip planning!!

Tip of the Day #28

Just thought I would give you a run down on how I go about my shopping trips each week.

First, I get the weekly newspaper.  I get the Charlotte Observer, because it is the biggest city closest to me and it has a lot more and better coupons than my local paper.

Then, I look at the store inserts in the paper or online.  I look for the best deals and circle them.  Sometimes I refer to other bloggers to get this info. or to compare.

Next, I start looking at the coupons I have in the paper and online at coupons.com or couponnetwork.com.

I match-up the great deals with great coupons if I can.  A lot of times I will not find coupons, but great deals are still great......coupons just make them super great!

Most grocery store inserts come on Tuesdays.  New sales at grocery stores start on Wednesday morning.  So around Tuesday night or Wednesday morning I try to get match-ups done.  Same rule applies...great deals are still great even without coupons!

If, I can use coupons of course I do!  But not always.  The best way to save is just to buy items when they are actually on sale.  (Be careful about this...sometimes it may say it's on sale when you're actually only saving $0.08!  THIS IS NOT REALLY A SALE!!)  So, just keep your eyes open.  If you look at the fine print usually you will find where it says how much you will save.

**For example, BOGO sales are the best because you are saving the total price of one item!  So, if I buy a bag of chicken nuggets that are originally $7.99 and below that it has a BOGO sticker...then that means I can get 2 bags for $7.99 or 1 bag for $3.99!  AND if I have 2 coupons for that item I can use both (if you buy both) and save more!

So, the big idea here is just to buy when it's on sale and buy enough when it's on sale to last for around six weeks.  This is the sale cycle in the South.  You can't do this with everything, but most things you can!  So my advice if you're just starting out is to just buy items when they are on sale and when you get the hang of that......add the coupons!

If you haven't gotten in too deep yet you will notice that this couponing thing is very addictive!!!  But who doesn't love to save!

CVS 8/12/12-8/18/12

CVS has great deals on diapers!!!

Here is my plan:

Buy 2 Huggies Diapers $9.49 ea
Buy 2 Huggies Wipes $5.99 ea

Use $5 off $25 Baby Care (that I received from Magic Coupon machine!)
Use (2) $1.50 Huggies diapers q (SS 8/12) or the $3.00 PRINT that popped up! GONE!
Use (2) $0.50 Huggies wipes q (SS 8/12) or the $0.75 PRINT that popped up! GONE!

Total: $18.46 minus $1ECB = $17.46
Get $10 ECBs makes them $1.87 each!!

I am so excited!! Just hope they are still there for me!!!!!!

Rite Aid 8/12/12-8/12/12

Rite Aid has a great deal on Huggies Diapers this week....so does CVS...so do both or just pick one!

Since there are other deals I want from Rite Aid I am gonna do the following:

3 Garnier Frutis Gels $3.33 ($3/2 qPRINT)
Gillette Fusion Proglide $9.99 ($4 q RP 8/12)
3 Pearson Nips $1 ea

Total: $15.98 minus $15 UPs that I have = $0.98!

Get back: $3 UPs from Garnier, $4UPs from Gillette, $3 UPs from Pearson Nips!

So $0.98 + tax and $10 UPs back!

Tip of the Day #26

SavingStar is just another way to save!  The cool thing about it is it is extra savings after coupons!  For example at Bi-Lo you can use a manufacturer's coupon, a Bi-Lo ecoupon, a competitor coupon and still use the SavingStar coupon all together on one item!  SavingStar will not come off at the register, however.  These savings are added to your SavingStar account after a few days and once you have reached $5.00 in savings you can either have it sent to your bank account, PayPal, or get an Amazon gift card!

First you must create an account and add your grocery or drugstore loyalty cards to your account.  If you do not add the card numbers you will not get the savings!!!! I have Food Lion, Bi-Lo, Lowes Foods, Rite-Aid, and CVS on my account.

Then add the coupons from SavingStar site to your cards (you only have to add them to your account).  Then when you go to the store just give the cashier your card to swipe!

Look for an email or check your account in a few days to see the EXTRA savings!!!

Check back every few weeks to see what coupons have been added!
So why not!?...go check it out! SavingStar.com

Bi-Lo 8/1-8/7

Just some things to remember:
-First, just because you have 3 coupons doesn't mean it will still be a good price...most of these don't expire for a few weeks so keep them if you want!...BUT they may make a good price!
-Secondly, the SavingStar Qs will not come off at the register (which is why you can stack them) they will be deposited in your S* account in a few days...you can get the money sent to your bank account after reaching  $5.00!
-Third, Bi-Lo eQs will come off at the register, but don't count as a second Q so if you have a MFQ and a Store Q you could still stack a competitor Q!!!!
